Wholesalers buy British to address the downturn
Megger says electrical wholesalers are reacting to the present economic downturn by showing an increasing preference for buying and stocking products that are made in Britain.
"The reasons for this very noticeable trend are not hard to find," said Julian Grant, Megger's UK and International Sales Manager.
Megger say wholesalers are buying British
"The first is the widespread feeling that, in difficult economic times, it's important to protect jobs at home".
"This feeling is prevalent not only among the wholesalers themselves, but also among their customers, which essentially means that UK-manufactured products are the ones that are in demand".
"The second reason is even more pragmatic," continued Grant, "the prices of products manufactured in the UK are much less affected by fluctuations in the value of the Pound".
"That makes it a lot easier for wholesalers and end users to keep their budgets under control".
Although these are the key factors behind the current trend to buy British, Megger believes that there are many other benefits in choosing test instruments that are designed and produced in the UK.
They are, for example, certain to take into account all of the latest UK legislative requirements, and they will be designed to fully meet the specific needs of UK users.
In addition, technical support for the products is readily available from experts who have an in-depth knowledge of UK electrical systems and practices".
"It may be the recession that's driving the trend to buy British at the present time," says Julian Grant, "but we're totally convinced that the end result will be a genuine win-win situation for all concerned".
"With its strong UK manufacturing base, Megger will clearly benefit".
"Our wholesalers and stockists will also benefit, not least from fast deliveries and stable prices".
"End users will enjoy good prices, expert local support and, of course, superb instruments that are perfectly matched to their needs.
