Mek-Tek aims to join the Olympic team
Mek-Tek is gearing up production of its mobile concrete batching plant to support construction contracts leading up to the London Olympics in 2012.
Following a statement by the London Olympic Delivery Authority claiming that its biggest challenge is to build the right team to oversee construction work, Gloucestershire-based Mek-Tek is gearing up production of its mobile concrete batching plant (MBP) to support the hundreds of companies that will supply millions of cubic metres of ready mixed concrete to construction contracts leading up to the London Olympics in 2012 Bob Prince, chairman of Britain's only manufacturer of mobile volumetric concrete mixers, says although building work on the biggest single construction project in Europe won't start until 2008, the next two years will be spent laying power lines for facilities at the site near Stratford, which include the main stadium, the aquatic centre and the Olympic village

Mek-Tek has supplied a new ten cubic metre MBP10 mobile batching plant to a Mixamate Concrete franchisee to replace both of its ageing manual mixing wagons.
Commenting on the benefits of the Mek-Tek MBP for major construction projects like the Olympics, he explains that although high-volume static batching plants will be built on and around the site, mobile batch mixing units will be cost effective and efficient for operations such as back-filling, where precise quantities of concrete can be mixed in the vehicle, on-demand with no delays and no waste.
As well as demand from major contractors, utility companies and cement manufacturers, Mek-Tek is anticipating interest from owner-operators and franchise companies who see the 2012 London Olympics as an opportunity to start new businesses.
Says Bob Prince: "We can support new businesses with attractive finance and franchise packages as well as operational assistance, comprehensive training and service back up for vehicles and equipment".
Mek-Tek MBPs are available in 4, 6, 8 and 10 m3 delivered capacities and are equipped as standard with a number of unique safety features and a range of options that allow operators to provide third party accreditation for customers.
Mek-Tek, which specialises in the manufacture of materials handling equipment, can also supply everything needed for mobile and static batching plants, including silos, mixers, conveyors, etc, and a full design, engineering and project management service.
