New mobile batching plant can quadruple output

Mek-Tek Limited, the UK's only manufacturer of mobile volumetric concrete mixers, has introduced a more compact version of its successful MBP mobile batching plant.
The new vehicle - the MBP4 - has a capacity of between four and five cubic metres dependent on aggregate density, and can mix precise quantities of concrete on-site, on-demand with no delays and no waste.
Mek-Tek chairman Bob Prince says the MBP4 was initially developed to meet a demand from existing owners of the company's 10m3 vehicles, who are doing enough small-batch deliveries to justify an additional smaller-capacity model.
He adds that he also expects the new model to attract start-up businesses, potential franchisees and other operators who are currently mixing manually, and are therefore restricted to outputs of around 15m3 a day.
The new model is ideally suited to small batch deliveries (with higher profit margins), benefiting from the compact dimensions and excellent manoeuvrability of its 4-wheel chassis.
The batching plant is also operated using a power take-off from the vehicle rather than a donkey engine, so operating and maintenance costs are lower.
Bob Prince says the company's own trials have shown that a well-run batching operation should be able to re-load and re-fuel the MBP4 in less than 15 minutes, which would allow the manually mixed daily average of 15m3 to be achieved in just a couple of hours with the potential to quadruple a customer's turnover! The MBP4 is manufactured on a flowline production system at Mek-Tek's Tetbury factory, which enables the new model to be delivered in less than eight weeks.
It is competitively priced compared to imported vehicles, can be covered by a three year warranty with maintenance contract, and backed by a national customer support team providing service, spares and maintenance.
The Mek-Tek range is now available in 4, 6 and 10 m3 delivered capacities.
All models are equipped as standard with a number of unique safety features and can be supplied with a range of options that allow operators to provide third party accreditation for customers.
Mek-Tek, which specialises in the manufacture of materials handling equipment, can also supply everything needed for mobile and static batching plants, including silos, mixers, conveyors, etc, and a full design, engineering and project management service.
