Mek-Tek has introduced a Breaker Truck variant of its successful MBP (mobile batching plant), specially designed for the recycled aggregate market.

Mek-Tek Limited, the UK's only manufacturer of mobile volumetric concrete mixers, has introduced a Breaker Truck variant of its successful MBP (mobile batching plant), specially designed for the recycled aggregate market where bridging and product blockages can interrupt continuity of discharge and affect the mix The new vehicle, which is thought to be the first of its type, is equipped with an automated internal 'breaker arm' that agitates sticky reclaimed material to clear hold-ups

However, the real innovation is in the operating system, which can be activated by a remote hand-held push-button controller, while the operator is monitoring the batching process.

Mek-Tek chairman Bob Prince says the MBP Breaker Truck has been introduced to meet demand from existing customers in the aggregate recycling business, some of whom were involved in the testing and fine tuning of the remotely operated 'breaker' system.

"Customers who use recycled aggregate were experiencing blockages that could only be cleared manually," he says: "so we were asked to help".

"Whilst the automated breaker arm solves the problem of blockages, the main benefit comes from the remote control, which makes it possible for the operator to position himself where he can watch for product hold-ups, and clear blockages by simply pushing a button." The Breaker Truck variant, which is only available on 10m3 MBP models, is equipped as standard with a number of unique safety features and can be supplied with a range of options that allow operators to provide third party accreditation for customers.

Mek-Tek specialises in the manufacture of materials handling equipment and can supply everything needed for mobile and static batching plants, including silos, mixers, conveyors, etc, and a full design, engineering and project management service.
