Lift safely with Panachrome 3D from Memco
Panachrome range combines 154 beam light curtain with coloured door indicators, which alert passengers when the doors are opening or closing.
Tony Manning, Group Engineer (Lifts) explained, 'Memco's Chromaline and Pana40 system replaced an existing system that had been causing problems.
A number of members of staff had been hit by the doors and we needed to take action.' The Chromaline illuminated edges are complementary to the Disability Discrimination Act guidelines: for those with impaired or partial sight the doors clearly warn the user that they are closing or opening as they change colour.
The edges sit parallel to the door operating edges and show green light as the doors open and come to rest, and red as the doors begin to close.
Commenting on Memco's systems, Tony added, 'There have been no reports of people getting trapped since installation.
The visual indication the Chromalines give is excellent and they're intuitive to use.
When they flash red users have the advantage of seeing when the doors are about to close.
Memco systems have now been incorporated into our specification.' Paul Monger, Southern UK Sales Manager for Memco, emphasised their versatility: 'The Chromaline edges are effective on any building and for most applications as they provide a reassuring visual indication of when the doors are about to close.
They are designed to be fitted along with safety edges, such as Memco's Pana40 Plus detectors for maximum safety.
In addition to the colour changes of the Chromaline, the Pana40 Plus detectors generate a curtain of infrared beams between the car doors to ensure that they cannot close onto obstructions.
We are pleased that this has proved an effective solution to the problems previously experienced at the Guildhall Yard East site.'.
