MVMP scoops major regeneration award
MVMP is one of just a handful of schemes nationally to be recognised through the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) Awards for Best Practice in Regeneration.
The work of special purpose vehicle Meden Valley Making Places (MVMP) in breathing new life into former East Midlands mining communities has been rewarded with BURA Award for Best Practice in Regeneration MVMP collected its award - won jointly with The Clowne Campus and Sports Centre - at a ceremony on Thursday 29th November at the Riverbank Park Plaza in London

Since 1992, these annual awards celebrate imagination, innovation, inspiration and determination.
The judges require entrants to demonstrate best practice, act as a catalyst for further regeneration, contribute economically, environmentally, and socially, and show a track record of success.
BURA stated that "Meden Valley Making Places has given residents a boost in confidence and provided local employment opportunities through the construction of much-needed quality homes, re-housing businesses in improved facilities and attracting private capital to complement the construction process.
Through imaginative and innovative work with local people, individual masterplans have been created - and are being delivered - for eight settlements.
The flagship restoration of 160 properties in Creswell Model Village, a village originally constructed in the 19th century to provide better housing for the workers at a colliery, is a testament to the organisation's abilities".
Gary Kirk, Chief Executive of MVMP, added: "To be recognised through this sector-leading awards scheme is a major coup and a tribute to everyone who has been involved in the MVMP project - funders, partners, planners, suppliers, staff and most importantly the local people whose communities we are working to restore.
"With the project now well into its delivery phase, the fruits of our work in assembling sites and Masterplanning in conjunction with local people are now being enjoyed across the region, with areas that had suffered greatly following pit closures now looking forward to a bright new future.".
