A ground breaking ceremony marked the start of work on a new development of high quality energy efficient new homes on Church Drive, Shirebrook, Derbyshire, designed to completely transform the area The project is a partnership with leading new homes builder Haslam Homes, part of Keepmoat , Meden Valley Making Places, Bolsover District Council and Places for People (the Registered Social Landlord)

The scheme is part of the Shirebrook Sustainable Development Masterplan and will deliver 65 two and three bedroom new homes, including six shared ownership units, which will all meet The Lifetime Homes standard.

The new homes will be designed to blend in with the local environment and all will have good sized gardens and parking.

Haslam Homes Midlands region Managing Director, Tim Wray, said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity of working with Meden Valley Making Places and Bolsover Council and to be involved in the exciting regeneration of this part of town.

"The whole Haslam Homes team is looking forward to having this opportunity to deliver new environmentally sound, affordable homes within Shirebrook which is right at the heart of our region.

"As part of our commitment to Shirebrook and the local economy our policy will be to work with local sub contractors and suppliers at every opportunity".

Gary Kirk, Chief Executive of Meden Valley Making Places, added: "The new homes will introduce a high quality of housing into the area and transform a previously run down part of the town.

"This scheme is close to a development of five 'eco-homes' refurbished through the MVMP project, all of which are now either sold or under offer, and we anticipate similar levels of interest in the new Haslam Homes development.
