Metabo combines cordless drill/driver with new lithium-ion technology for a more comfortable, productive tool.

Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, today announced it has teamed its new lithium-ion battery technology with its 14.4-volt drill/driver to enhance user comfort and productivity The result, the new BSZ 14.4, offers more available power and a faster charge than earlier models

Its lightweight (4.0 lbs with battery), ergonomic design, and balanced weight distribution help to ensure optimum handling, and its rubber-coated handle reduces user fatigue, making the tool even more comfortable to use.

It is perfect for a wide range of applications, including automotive, industrial, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other general construction applications.

The drill's14.4-volt motor offers up to 487 inch-lbs of torque and no-load speeds up to 1,400 rpm.

It can drill up to 1/2" holes in mild steel and up to 1-3/16" holes in soft wood.

With the new lithium-ion battery, the BSZ 14.4 can run longer than with traditional batteries because the lithium-ion batteries feature 40 percent higher performance than traditional rechargeable batteries.

The environmentally friendly batteries also offer an increased service life of up to 1,500 charges and can be stored for up to 18 months without losing any charge.

The BSZ 14.4 also features Metabo's spindle lock for one-handed bit changing using a 1/2" keyless chuck, as well as a built-in clip that holds a screwdriver bit.

The drill uses a smooth gear change mechanism with 3-level planetary gears to extend tool life, and its built-in fan helps keep the motor cool under load.
