M Halliday and Sons are making a debut appearance at "interbuild 2007" to showcase their new range of timber framed double-glazed environmentally friendly windows.

Hallidays, exhibiting in Hall 4 Stand F175 at Interbuild (Birmingham NEC, Oct 28-Nov 1), are at a milestone period in their 27-year history, having relocated to 35,000sq ft factory premises in Keighley, West Yorkshire, earlier this year to underpin future business expansion potential The move has seen the launch of a new window-making plant after the company secured exclusive manufacturing rights through an agreement reached with German timber company Holz Schiller, of Regen

It has involved a quarter of a million pound investment, including installation of a German-made Hoffman jointing system, along with a glass shop to support both existing joinery business and the new window-making facility.

The windows, crafted from engineered timber and the first non-upvc, totally maintenance free windows available in the UK market, are the brainchild of Holz Schiller's technical director Bill Robertson, who has also helped set up the manufacturing plant at M Halliday and Sons, adapting products specifically for home markets.

The windows are already beginning to make a big impact, notably because of major environmental considerations, according to Hallidays' sales and marketing director Julie Ellis.

She commented: "All timber is from managed forests across Europe and because it is laminated the amount of timber used is 33% less than standard solid timber windows".

"Production follows Timber Research and Development Association guidelines - every tree felled is replaced by five others".

""We are constantly trying to reduce our carbon footprint by cutting waste throughout the business as we work towards our goal of becoming one of the 'greenest' manufacturers in the country in our operational arena".

""It is not an easy route to take as we have to change people's mindsets, but if we all do our bit we will leave the planet in a better state for the future." M Halliday and Sons specialises in the bespoke manufacture of windows, doors, staircases, kitchens and conservation joinery, supplying to trade customers across the UK.

In addition, the company has moved into bar manufacturing and fitting in the pub retail industry.

Its window manufacturing arm is being run in partnership with Keighley-based Kelly Developments.
