Concrete engineering company, Milbury Systems, has undertaken a fast track installation project at Imerys Minerals .'s China Clay drying facility at Bugle, near St Austell, Cornwall.

The concrete specialist provided cladding and division walls for the new Bugle Rocks tube press facility at the site which, when completed, will be the largest of its kind in the world In a contract for main contractor Dean and Dyball Construction, valued at GBP200,000, Millbury installed approximately 2,000 square metres of prestressed concrete panels which form both the external facade to the building up to a height of 2.2m, replacing the more traditional option of a block work dado wall, and a number of internal walls which include the principle dividing wall, extending up to 14m in height

Installation speed was greatly enhanced through the manufacture and provision of 2.2 metre wide horizontal panels which Milbury produced at its concrete production facility in Lydney, Gloucestershire.

"We selected Milbury based on our previous experience of working with them on other projects, and the understanding that Milbury would tailor a bespoke walling solution which would meet both the needs of the design and the construction programme", commented Rob Green, design manager at Dean and Dyball.

"We normally supply concrete panel widths of 1.5 metres", commented Milbury works director, Simon Pearson.

"However we have the capability of producing widths up to 2.4 metres which enabled us to respond to the need for wider panels, allowing for a faster installation on this project.".
