Getting the balance right with Ultrashoe

A Mighton Products product story

Ultrashoe from Mighton Products is a new patented adjustable pivot shoe which allows the tensioning of the balance in a sash window, without removing the spring.

Anyone who has installed a sash window knows how difficult and time consuming adjusting the balance can be.

As double glazing technology gets more advanced, vertical sliders have got heavier and harder to adjust, but pivot shoe design has remained the same for the last 20 years.

Recently launched by Mighton Products, Ultrashoe is a new patented adjustable pivot shoe which allows the tensioning of the balance in a sash window, without removing the spring.

Mike Derham, Managing Director of Mighton, the premium sash window hardware specialist, gives further details: "With Ultrashoe you just open the sash on its pivot, insert the screwdriver, turn until the desired tension is achieved and then close the window.

It's that easy.

The benefit to installers and fabricators is two fold, as it's such a simple process that sashes can also readjusted by the homeowner at a later date - there's no need to call the installer back in.

Mike continues: "Standard pivot shoes are more prone to breakage as sash windows become heavier - Ultrashoe is proven to be more robust.".
