Some Midas Homes employees recently took on the ultimate task and braved the Royal Marines Commando Challenge to raise money for the Gemini FM charitable trust Dressed throughout the task in a respectable shirt and tie, Graham Hutton, Michael Newman, Tony Brown, William John and John Cheffings managed to complete the seven mile tactical load carry challenge on Woodbury Common, East Devon

The challenge was held this year for the first time, at the request of teams wanting to go 'that one step further' and do something a bit different.

The task simulates a patrol of Royal Marines moving in on the enemy wearing their kit and carrying rucksacks (these would hold their spare clothing, food, water and ammunition).

The challenge involved a gruelling four mile run and a demanding three mile assault course, which involved navigating their way through sunken mud and water filled tunnels carrying 50 pound rucksacks.

The event was available to teams and businesses throughout the UK.

Michael Newman, Regional Manager for Midas Homes Wessex region said: "This is the third time we have taken part in the Commando Challenge and we would definitely do it again.

It really is an endurance test and gives you an enormous amount of satisfaction at the end.

"We thought it would be fun to do the challenge in our shirt and ties and it certainly attracted a lot of attention and caused quite a few comments.

We've now just got to recover for next year!".
