Countdown begins to next GeoDrilling
Show
The next GeoDrilling Show is April 30 and May 1 2008, at East of England Showground's purpose-built exhibition centre at Peterborough.
The next GeoDrilling Show is all of 12 months away, but we wanted to get the dates firmly in your minds, diaries, Outlook calendars and budgets Originally we were going to call it 'The Hole Show' but the potentially embarrassing websites that this was likely to be confused with quickly ensured that this bit of creative genius was discarded and a safer title sought

That was back in 2004 when the idea of an event exclusively for the drilling industry was little more than a bar room discussion.
But pretty quickly - away from the beer and the bar - the idea got traction.
So the GeoDrilling Show was born and two years ago we staged the very first event at Donington.

Nobody - not us as publishers or the BDA as a trade organisation - had a really good fix on how many visitors would actually make the trek to the East Midlands.
Thankfully, GeoDrilling 2005 captured the industry's imagination and we got what is known in event terms as 'quantity and quality'...
lots of people who were there to do proper business with exhibitors.
And that base allowed us to follow up with the 2006 event after which, we all agreed, to make the event a biannual show which would give us all a bit of breathing space.
Today, we begin the countdown to the next GeoDrilling Show.
It is all of 12 months away but we wanted to get the dates firmly in your minds, diaries, Outlook calendars and budgets: April 30 and May 1.
And, for 2008, we are moving to a brand new venue - the East of England Showground's purpose-built exhibition centre at Peterborough.
The move was bought about following the 2006 event after concern about noise during the seminar sessions caused by vehicles on the nearby racetrack and also aircraft from the nearby airport.
The new exhibition hall and surrounding area will be the ideal setting for the 2008 event.
For exhibitors and visitors alike the facilities are top class and communications by road, rail or air are excellent.
For those of you who have already experienced the previous two GeoDrilling shows, I don't have to tell you that if you are in the drilling industry - and you are - then GeoDrilling 2008 must not be missed.
It's not often as a publisher and events organiser that you can really say, don't ask us how valuable it is, ask last year's exhibitors and visitors.
The feedback we received following that show was very encouraging.
Two thirds of exhibitors at the 2006 show thought it 'excellent', with 67% rating the quality of visitors either 'good'or 'excellent'.
Of the visitors themselves, 71% rated the show 'very good'and 17% called it 'excellent'.
Over three quarters of visitors perceived the quality of exhibitors as being 'very good', while 12% though the exhibitors were 'excellent'.
And for 2008, we promise you an event that will meet all your expectations, and hopefully exceed them, by providing an exhibition containing the top names in the drilling industry, international delegates with the credentials to make all the right buying decisions and a seminar programme packed with the best speakers covering the issues which matter most to drillers.
And building on the huge success of our geothermal seminars of last year, we are launching a major new element to the 2008 show: Geothermal Live.
This will represent a major exhibition and conferencing section dedicated to this hugely important sector.
We are forecasting to be hosting 150 exhibitors and some 2,500 visitors at the big event.
We very much hope you will be one of them.
