Data from the latest 2006 edition of Mirza and Nacey's Fees Surveys shows that average fees have increased amongst construction professionals over the last five years.

After stripping out the effects of building cost inflation, average fees for architects have increased by 8 per cent since 2000.

Over the same period Engineers' fees are up by 8 per cent in real terms, while Quantity Surveyors' average fees have increased the least: by 6 per cent.

But all three professions appear to have been able to increase their fees ahead of inflation.

The latest hourly rates data shows that Engineers and Quantity Surveyors have increased average rates by 4 per cent between 2004 and 2005, although Architects' increase has been a more modest 1 per cent.

Four new reports from Mirza and Nacey present a detailed analysis of the fees charged by private practices, including hourly rates billed by practice personnel - from principals/directors to year out students - broken down by region and by size of practice.

Detailed charts illustrate the average fee rates for a wide range of sectors and sub-sectors, from house extensions to hotels and schools to shops, across a range of building types, sizes and contract types.

Each report builds on the quality and quantity of information provided by its predecessor.

It will be of interest to anybody who provides or procures these services' said Vince Nacey, Director, Mirza and Nacey Research .

The four new 2006 editions of Mirza and Nacey's Fees Surveys are: Architects Fees (GBP135) Architects Fees - Minor Works (GBP65) Quantity Surveyors Fees (GBP135) Engineers Fees (GBP135) .

The 2006 edition of Mirza and Nacey's Fees Surveys are available from Mirza and Nacey Research priced GBP135.
