Edinburgh's Premier Hotel Installs Miwa Locks

A Miwa product story

The luxurious Prestonfield hotel in the heart of Edinburgh has installed 34 Miwa AL5H 'Dual Technology' smart locks and a KFDS encoder system.

Subject of a £2.5 million restoration, Prestonfield is the place to stay in Edinburgh.

A beautiful 17th century historic house, only five minutes by taxi from Princes Street in the city centre, Prestonfield is internationally recognised as one of Scotland's best privately owned hotels.

Now owned and operated by one of Britain's leading restaurateurs, James Thomson, who also runs the Witchery and Tower restaurants in the city, James once worked at Prestonfield as a banqueting waiter when a student at catering college.

He fell in love with the house, realised its potential and dreamed of one day becoming its owner and creating a luxurious alternative to bland corporate chain hotels.

For guestroom security, distributor NT Security installed Miwa's AL5H 'Dual Technology' electronic smart card lock.

Technical Manager Doug Edge from NT Security said: "Hoteliers expect much more from a lock that it just keeps their doors securely shut.

The Miwa AL5H, with its smart card capability, provides unparalleled reliability today and unlocks the potential for smart card applications tomorrow as hotels move forwards from magnetic cards to smart chip and processor smart cards.".
