Increasing demand from the housing industry for standard GRP (glass reinforced plastic) building products, particularly dormers and door canopies.

The Millfield Group has created a Building Products Division within Millfield FRP and is expanding into a new £2m factory near its current facility in Newburn, Tyne and Wear, enabling the group to cater for increasing demand from the housing industry for standard GRP (glass reinforced plastic) building products, particularly dormers and door canopies Millfield FRP, the UK's market leaders in GRP construction contracts, is investing heavily in GRP for the buoyant housing market

Sales Director, Alan Sutcliffe says, "Unlike many of our competitors we can offer site based GRP personnel from our Construction Division".

"We can therefore provide house builders with an excellent after sales service as well as assistance with any installation problems".

To respond to this increased demand for standard building products, Terry Nattress (55) has joined Millfield's sales function as Building Products Sales Manager in a 'gamekeeper turned poacher' move.

After 20 years as a senior buyer with national house builders, most recently at George Wimpey North ., Terry will now be selling Millfield's range of dormers, canopies, door surrounds and features to architects, specifiers and house builders.

The new factory, which has been built by the group's in-house development company, Fibrelock Limited, will provide 24,000 thousand square feet of additional production space and a new suite of offices complete with staff gym for Millfield FRP Limited.

State of the art IT services have been installed in the offices to extend Millfield's Autocad 2004 and 3D Inventor Imaging System, while manufacturing space is serviced with 3-tonne overhead cranes and ring main services for vacuum moulding and RTM as well as more traditional GRP manufacturing processes.
