Moeller's brand new X-board consumer unit will save electrical installers significant amounts of time when it comes to wiring and installation.

Thanks to in-depth market research backing up intuitive product design, Moeller's brand new X-board consumer unit will save electrical installers significant amounts of time when it comes to wiring and installation Moeller, known for its industry leading industrial control gear, is now entering the distribution equipment market in a big way; and this new consumer unit naturally complements the company's existing products and expertise in three-phase distribution

The new units exhibit a number of clever design elements that, as well as making installation quicker, also make it much easier.

The X-board is a lot more tolerant of problems that may exist when mounting; indeed, the way it is designed - with a flexible back panel - helps to disguise uneven and crooked mounting surfaces.

Aesthetics have also played an important role in the design as consumer units are now finding their way out of under-stair cupboards and into prominent positions.

These units suit modern contemporary settings rather than looking like a bulky, squared off and impersonal box of wires.

A number of features will make life easier for installers.

To make wiring easier, the back panel sidewalls are very shallow and there is ample wiring space across the full length of the busbar.

In addition, there is significantly more space above the components (compared to other units on the market) - this will give installers even more freedom of movement and space to perform wiring operations.

It also provides distinct wiring zones, which will make wiring more definable and neater and the pan assembly can be removed and replaced easily - even when the backboard is in place.

The unit also comes supplied with five mounting holes, so on-site mounting variations can be addressed and all knockouts can be easily removed with pliers.

Control devices can be fitted using a DIN rail adaptor and the earth and neutral terminal blocks are fully rated to 100A.

One additional and unique feature is that the busbar is shrouded with a clip-over cover which is physically secured to the body so accidental loss or dislodging is no longer a problem.

This clip-on cover, Moeller believes, offers greater personnel protection than any other unit on the market.

The X-board's front cover or lid overlaps, rather than meets, the sidewalls of the back panel, so any unevenness of the mounting surface is hidden.

The lid is simply secured in place using two captive screws and, once in place, makes the entire structure rigid.

The cover is designed with a stay-open facility and a lockable option is available.

The unit is available in both metal and plastic and for larger applications, and can be stacked vertically.
