Moeller is launching its new XBoard consumer unit, offering an aesthetically pleasing and clever design for builders and installers looking for an alternative to the stark, square, industrial-looking 'fuse box'.
As an extension to its successful range of distribution equipment, the XBoard features innovative design and specification options which will suit modern, contemporary settings as consumer units increasingly find their way out of under-stair cupboards into more prominent positions.
XBoard is an attractive, modern and IP40 rated design that is available in a range of five frame sizes to satisfy all common requirements, and can also be stacked vertically for larger applications.
The front cover fits easily onto the base plate and overlaps the sidewalls of the back panel to hide any uneven mounting surface and is available in both metal and plastic.
The flip lid is designed with a stay-open facility and is available with a lockable option.
Moeller has not only made significant aesthetic improvements, but has also incorporated important time-saving features when it comes to wiring and installation.
The new unit has been designed as a one-tool board to offer ease of installation; one pozidrive screwdriver can be used to secure all internal and external fixings and devices.
While to make wiring easier, the XBoard gives unprecedented working space, with ample space above the full length of the busbar and the components, as well as distinct wiring areas for easier and neater wiring installation.
The design also includes well positioned, preformed knockouts across the top and bottom, and easy to remove knockouts for rear entry cables.
The Xboard's unique solution on split load boards allows the installer to configure each board to suit an installations requirement for RCD ways and control devices.
Its forked busbar design offers more reliable connection with devices and, to offer greater personnel protection, the unit's clip-in shrouding completely covers all live parts.
The earth and neutral terminal blocks are fully rated to 100A.
"We believe XBoard achieves the demanding aesthetic requirements of the market, as the units suit the modern, contemporary settings they are increasingly being positioned in, but with no compromise on quality, reliability and functionality," comments Gavin Stoppel, Product Manager at Moeller.
"In fact, our enhanced units provide improvements in all areas, particularly safety and ease of installation.".
