Molabolt Peg Anchor ideal for blind applications

A Molabolt product story

They just drilled out the old bolt, put in the Molabolt, tightened her up, all in one smooth operation - fast and easy

When the elegant eight span St Julians viaduct in South Wales began to show its age, Network Rail called in the experts.

Andrew Davies, senior engineer for Alfred McAlpine recalls: "The basic problem was that over one hundred years of constant vibration from engines and cargo wagons had taken its toll and there was a major challenge to replace the restraining brackets within very tight timescales".

Andrew is used to tight timescales but, on this occasion, he only had control of the bridge for one weekend, such was its strategic importance to the rail network.

Fast and easy.

After considering various options a colleague suggested visiting a website www.molabolt.co.uk, "It was exactly what we needed" says Andrew.

"The Molabolt Peg Anchor is ideal for blind applications".

"We tested it and it passed with flying colours".

"What's more the maintenance crew on the ground liked it and the ease with which it can be installed".

"They just drilled out the old bolt, put in the Molabolt, tightened her up, all in one smooth operation - fast and easy".

"The conclusion is that without Molabolt the project would have been a frustrating headache and we could have struggled to deliver the job to time".

Colleagues at Alfred McAlpine have already begun to use the Molabolt Peg Anchor in a number of other rail projects.
