Morgan Lovell strikes gold with Green Apple Award

Morgan Lovell has been awarded the gold Green Apple accolade from the Green Organisation for its pioneering fit out of a sustainable office.

Representatives from Morgan Lovell travelled to the Houses of Parliament to collect the accolade.

The company was among only a handful of organisations in the UK to achieve the top honour.

This is the third award in weeks Morgan Lovell has achieved for its pioneering work to create a green office at the company's own London headquarters, located in Noel Street, Soho.

Developed in the unlikely setting of a 1960s block, the office is in the type of building that would normally be considered an environmental write-off.

The other awards won recently include a highly commended award in the 'Best Practice In A Fit Out Project' category, at the British Institute of Facilities Management Investors in FM Excellence awards.

Morgan Lovell also took a highly commended accolade in the Green Business Awards, in the 'Best Construction or Property Business category.

Earlier this year, the sustainable workplace achieved the highest BREEAM fit out environmental assessment score to date in the UK, and as a result received an award from the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

David Henderson, managing director of Morgan Lovell, said: "This green office project proves that it is possible to transform an old workplace into a model of sustainability".

The Noel Street project has also been shortlisted in the PFM Awards and Building magazine's 99% Campaign for Refurbishment, developed to find the best examples in the UK of carbon being cut in existing buildings.

The Green Organisation is an independent group, dedicated to promoting the positive side of environmental endeavour.
