Honeywell enhances range of ZX control panels
Morley-IAS by Honeywell has introduced the ZX5Se control panel to meet demands of Disability Discrimination Act - upgraded loop and battery calculator checks design parameters.
Following the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), Morley-IAS by Honeywell has introduced the ZX5Se, a new, more powerful version of its market-leading ZX range of fire alarm control panels.
"Under the DDA," confirms Keith Minster, UK and Ireland sales manager, Morley-IAS Fire Systems, "building owners are under an obligation to make particular life safety provision for the deaf and hearing-impaired, by providing more visible notification devices in addition to existing sounders".
"As a result, the enhanced ZX5Se provides all the power necessary to ensure compliance with the Act." Traditionally, visual alarms have taken the form of Xenon beacons which have caused installation problems due to their high power requirements: more recently however, device manufacturers have introduced LED equivalents which demand less power.
Complementing this, the new Morley-IAS ZX5Se panel incorporates an enhanced power supply and loop card, so that the power required for both auditory and visual alarms can be transferred to the loop.
And, with all detection devices powered through the same cable throughout the building, this cuts installation costs considerably.
The ZX5Se also incorporates a larger user display, automatically providing more information on individual alarms and faults without the need for manual intervention.
ZX Enhancements.
As an addition to the existing range, the ZX5Se requires minimal training for those users used to ZX control panels and is compatible with the majority of devices from third party manufacturers, Apollo, Hochiki, Nittan and System Sensor.
It also incorporates a number of recent enhancements common to the complete ZX range.
These include:.
- Extended network facilities, to ensure faster response of the visual graphics system.
- Compatibility with a full range of third party manufacturers' devices, supporting new DDA-compliant sounders, beacons and detectors.
At the same time, Morley-IAS has introduced an upgraded version of its loop and battery calculator, providing partners with a more accurate and easier-to-use means of testing the parameters of a proposed design, to ensure it works before installation.
"The DDA applies to everyone, but is of particular importance to those managing high occupancy premises such as hotels, housing of multiple occupancy (HMOs) and publicly owned buildings," says Minster.
"The Morley-IAS ZX5Se offers all the flexibility and reliability long-associated with the ZX design, together with the power required to meet the fire safety requirements of all premises, whatever their size.".
