Mowlem Completes Alice Springs To Darwin Rail Link
Barclay Mowlem, international arm of Mowlem plc and a joint venture partner of ADrail, has recently completed trackwork for the 1,420 km Alice Springs to Darwin Railway project.
With high quality landscaping and an imaginative link to the original refurbished HQ, Mowlem have produced a near perfect model of the better working environment.
The interior of the building is a little more uncharacteristic.
From meeting rooms themed for creative thought in the style of a tropical beach and similar, to salvaged crystal chandeliers, and a 'swimming pool' of recycled glass, the surroundings can certainly be said to be 'unique'.
Winner of the South of England/South Wales Corporate Space award was Osborne Clarke's headquarters situated in the Temple Quay development in Bristol.
The Mowlem contract was picked due to its imaginative and well-planned layout comprising a full height central atrium around with the completely open plan offices are situated.
In addition there are caf? bars on each level, a casual seating area in the atrium base, and a stylish restaurant for use by the staff.
Also commended was the Computer Sciences Corporation headquarters at the Royal Pavilion, Aldershot - another innovative Mowlem-built office development.
The location of the project was a 45-acre woodland site, which once housed a pavilion built for Queen Victoria.
The site was originally landscaped by Capability Brown and the project aimed to create a pleasant, functional and innovative UK headquarters for CSC, whilst still respecting the beauty of the surroundings.
This commendation is a testament to its success.
