MPG Contracts awarded GBP10 million internal-fit out contract by Sir Robert McAlpine as part of the redevelopment of Colchester Barracks.

MPG Contracts has been awarded a GBP10 million internal-fit out contract by Sir Robert McAlpine as part of the redevelopment of Colchester Barracks The 14 month contract starts on site in April 2007 and involves the internal fit-out of ten buildings including: servicing and maintenance work shops, battery acid changing areas, ammunition stores, secured storage and parking areas, offices and welfare facilities

As prime contractor, MPG's work will involve installation of suspended ceilings, drywall partitioning, mechanical and electrical services.

MPG will also take responsibility for the co-ordination of specialist MOD nominated contractors within the MPG fit out project.

MPG will operate strict recycling and waste management protocols to minimize disposal to landfill sites.

In addition materials used on the project will be sourced from sustainable sources and comply with the Solvent Resource Management (SRM) guidelines for disposing of waste to licensed centers.

The internal-fit out contract is part of a GBP250m Private Finance Initiative project awarded to RMPA Services, a consortium comprising of Sir Robert McAlpine, Sodexho, WS Atkins and HSBC Infrastructure.
