Marshall Tufflex Energy Management at theme park

A Marshall-Tufflex product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 11, 2010

The Voltis power optimisation system from Marshall Tufflex Energy Management has been installed at a UK theme park, delivering immediate results.

The Flambards Experience, in Cornwall, caters for up to 8,000 people at full capacity.

As the park has developed, more rides and attractions have been added, and its power requirements have also grown.

Engineers were considering the costly installation of an onsite high voltage sub-station to ensure energy requirements could be met at all times.

The Voltis Intelligent power saving system from Marshall Tufflex Energy Management was proposed in order to reduce electricity bills and negate the need for the sub-station.

The 1,200Amp Voltis system was installed over a weekend and did not cause any interruption to the parks normal operations.

It was switched on and the system immediately reduced amps being drawn from 1,000 to 708.

A successful full site test was then initiated; every ride and attraction, lights, sound, heating and PA system, all operated for two hours in order to give Voltis a rigorous workout.

Flambards took advantage of the Carbon Trust 0 per cent loan scheme to fund the Voltis installation.

The park expects to reduce its electricity bill substantially, allowing the investment to pay for itself in under four years.
