Marble Arch Completes Major London Project
London-based Marble Arch, a major supplier, manufacturer and installer of natural stone, has finished playing its part in the redevelopment of the former Duke of York's barracks in Chelsea.
Azul Valverde Cascais, a dark brown limestone with a soft golden flower effect, was chosen for kitchen floors, while thick African black granite was used for kitchen tops.
Azul Valverde Mourisca, a lighter brown limestone from the same region as the Cascais, was specified for floors to common parts, staircases and skirtings, and Vidraco de Ataija Azul, a hard polished light olive green limestone, was used for the bathroom walls.
The floor and wall slabs in the bathroom had critical 10mm shadow gaps between the stone and plaster work, making the interface between trades critical to the project's success.
All the materials were sourced from Portugal, with the exception of kitchen tops supplied by MGL, London.
Marble Arch is entering the project into the Interiors category of this year's Natural Stone Awards.
The awards, sponsored by the Stone Federation of Great Britain and the CITB, will take place in November.
