Marble Arch Completes Exclusive Chelsea Project
London-based Marble Arch has completed the redevelopment of 28 luxury apartments in Cadogan Gardens, off the Kings Road in London's fashionable Chelsea, as part of a scheme worth £6m.
The contract for the prestigious project entailed Marble Arch visiting Italy together with the contractor and architect to view the selected stone blocks.
Having won the contract, the rare middle-eastern stone was manufactured in Italy from Marble Arch drawings, before being shipped to London.
The beautiful, classic design includes curved walls, columns carved from single blocks of stone, traditional cantilevered stairs and mosaics; all produced by Marble Arch's Italian partners.
In addition, the design incorporated entarthised pilasters, ionic portals, scrolls, egg and dart hand carving and entablatures.
"It is unlikely that a single room has ever contained, in value at least, so much stone," said Robert Merry, managing director, Marble Arch.
"Unfortunately, the project will be completed too late to enter it into the 2004 Natural Stone Awards.
But, you can bet we will be submitting it for the 2006 awards.".
