Multibuild win major new hotel contract

A Multibuild product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 31, 2008

Partnership-based relationship between Multibuild and its client Whitbread PLC has led to the award of a new GBP9.8 million design and build contract.

The project covers the creation of a new 204 bedroom Premier Inn hotel and adjoining restaurant in the Crawley Business Quarter at Gatwick.

It has a 47-week schedule that is due to complete in May 2009.

"This project will use a modular construction system and that is an area where we have a rapidly growing pool of expertise," explains Gary Wilson, Operations Director with Multibuild.

"This system will help us achieve a shorter construction period than would have been possible with more conventional construction methods while still delivering the high standards of quality that our clients expect".

Multibuild will use a combination of aluminium cladding, render and curtain walling to complete the building's external leaf.

The company will also undertake extensive groundworks around the hotel to complete the project.
