Mumford and Wood products are Part L compliant

A Mumford and Wood product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 26, 2010

Mumford and Wood complies with Part L building regulations in the energy and carbon reduction improvement targets set for October 2010, in new build and replacement installation.

This achievement applies across the entire Mumford and Wood Conservation product range of sliding sashes, casements, French doorsets and entrance doors.

The new and approved Part L building regulations affecting replacement windows and doors come into effect 1 October 2010 and will have a significant impact on the fenestration industry.

For replacement windows the requirements for Window Energy Ratings (WER) have been tightened to achieve an energy rating of at least band C, from the current E rating, which equates to a combined U-value of 1.6 W/mk.

Following the Part L 2006 regulations the carbon improvement targets were announced at 25 per cent reduction by October 2010; 44 per cent reduction by 2013 and 100 per cent reduction by 2016.

In the new Part L requirements replacement windows must achieve a U-value of 1.6 W/mk, while 1.8 W/mk for doors is the maximum limit.

This criteria also applies to new build.

Bespoke windows and doors by Mumford and Wood are made from premium quality, laminated, clear grade larch which is naturally durable, strong and stable.

Windows are factory finished with high performance double glazed panels and are available with a choice of period mouldings and details.
