Munters swing in to action following flash floods

Disaster recovery teams from Huntingdon based restoration specialist, Munters, have been heavily involved in the clean up operation after recent floods

in North Yorkshire and Newcastle Disaster recovery teams from Huntingdon based restoration specialist, Munters, have been heavily involved in the clean up operation after devastating floods in North Yorkshire and Newcastle upon Tyne.

The company has despatched teams of technicians from Munters' Manchester office to join the recovery effort in the stricken North Yorkshire villages of Helmsley and Hawnby while teams from its Newcastle office have gone to the aid of the people of Whitley Bay, Shiremoore and Walkergate.

The teams have been working around the clock with insurance companies to help residents salvage what they can from their properties and to start the decontamination process.

Munters Team Manager for Newcastle, Ms Jane Noble, commented: "Although the flooding in North Yorkshire received more television coverage, we have in fact had more callouts in the Newcastle area this week".

Area Manager, Darren Francis added: "Within 24 hours we had begun the recovery process in Newcastle and North Yorkshire".

"People are understandably upset as this disaster has left many homes and businesses in ruins".

"Our technicians are experienced at reassuring customers at what is an extremely testing time." Water damage restoration involves removing and disposing of unsalvageable contents, clearing out the silt and debris left behind after a flood, removing floor boards and sodden plasterwork where necessary, decontaminating the property and slowly drying it out over a number of weeks using specialist dehumidifiers and fans.

Other services being provided by Munters include electrical restoration, laundry and dry cleaning and document drying.

Munters were on hand in January this year when flooding effected 2,500 homes in Carlisle and won much acclaim for their efforts to restore the stricken Cornish village of Boscastle after flash flooding in August 2004.
