Mr Boyden added: "The certification illustrates the innovative and forward thinking approach NCC takes to achieving high health and safety standards - something we believe is at the heart of a successful and sustainable construction industry".
The certification comes only months after NCC East was awarded the Sword of Honour, the British Safety Council's highest accolade for health and safety.
NCC is one of only 40 organisations worldwide to be presented with the Sword of Honour, placing the college at the forefront of certified health and safety standards across all industries throughout the world.
The application for the certification requires companies to undertake a number of activities, including defining health and safety policies with senior management, establishing a framework for identifying hazards and assessing risks, and identifying and understanding legal obligations.
It also asks that companies establish roles and responsibilities, develop procedures for the consultation and communication of OHandS information, and establish plans and procedures for emergencies.
The OHSAS 18001 then requests that, ongoing, companies continue to evaluate and improve their management system.
As the direct training division of CITB-ConstructionSkills, the National Construction College is the largest provider of construction training in the UK and Europe, offering both young apprentices and adult students a wide range of specialist courses.
The college's East campus is one of five sites around the UK, which, along with over 60 other locations, provide training for over 40,000 people per year.
