National Construction College Receives Generous Donation from Groundforce Shorco The construction team at the National Construction College (NCC) has received a generous donation of 26 tonnes of proprietary shoring equipment from specialist equipment provider, Groundforce Shorco The specialist equipment valued at more than £18 000 will provide the college with a more extensive range of shoring products for the students to use for excavation support work training

The National Construction College's construction training manager, Paul Dean, said: "Donations like these enable us to continue to build and improve the quality and quantity of training we can provide to the industry.

It is fundamental that students are trained on an extensive range of the latest equipment to prepare them properly for work in the real world".

Groundforce Shorco offers one of the most extensive ranges of excavation support systems and associated products in the UK.

The company's technical manager, Tony Gould, and Projects Manger, Richard Dawson, delivered the equipment to the NCC site in Bircham Newton on 31 May 2006.

Tony said: "As one of the UK's largest providers of specialist excavation support systems, we are pleased to be able to offer NCC a range of advanced equipment that should enable them to better meet their training needs.

Groundforce Shorco is committed to supporting the UK construction and shoring industry and where possible provide training facilities like NCC, with the latest equipment to ensure that those using it in the industry are appropriately trained.

"We have a well established relationship with the NCC, with Groundforce Shorco staff all receiving specialist training at the college and this is not the first time that we have provided support and equipment to the college".

As the direct training division of CITB-ConstructionSkills, the National Construction College is the largest provider of construction training in Europe, offering both young apprentices and adult students a wide range of specialist courses.

The college's campus in Bircham Newton is one of five sites in the country, which, along with 60 other locations and through internet based learning, provides training for more than 40,000 people each year.
