NCC pilots sustainability and management courses
The National Construction College (NCC), Europe's largest construction training provider, will be piloting three new courses in January 2009 in the areas of sustainability and business management.
The courses, 'Understanding the Code for Sustainable Homes', 'Introduction to Construction Estimating' and 'Advanced Construction Estimating' aim to equip construction managers and professionals with the skills and tools they need to ensure their businesses are complying with the latest legislation and have the skills required to ensure that they remain competitive.
'Understanding the Code for Sustainable Homes' has been developed for architects, designers, construction managers, site managers and house builders to find out more about what the Code for Sustainable Homes is and how it works.
The course covers the criteria that assessors will use to measure the achievement of sustainability performance under the Code and will be delivered by approved Code for Sustainable Homes assessors and the NCC's outstanding trainers.
'Introduction to Construction Estimating' and 'Advanced Construction Estimating' are two-day and three-day courses aimed at SMEs, access estimators, roofing estimators, and technicians following a Quantity Surveyor career route who require knowledge and understanding of the estimating process.
These courses will equip delegates with the skills to understand the various types of tendering, employer requirements and contract proposals.
They will also give an insight into supply chain management and explain tendering and bidding procedures.
The 'Understanding the Code for Sustainable Homes' course will run on 6 January in Wigan.
The 'Introduction to Construction Estimating' and 'Advanced Construction Estimating' courses will take place on 5-6 and 19-21 January respectively, and both will be held in Morley.
