NCC advises on Health and Safety refresher courses

A National Construction College product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 26, 2009

Europe's largest construction training provider, The National Construction College, is urging companies to ensure health and safety training adheres to legislative and site requirements.

The National Construction College is advising that refresher courses are taken to demonstrate how training should be up to date.

Contractors who have undertaken the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) are required to complete the two-day SMSTS Refresher course every five years to maintain their certificate.

This certificate not only proves competence as a site manager but is also a requirement imposed by the UK Contractors Group on all of its site managers and supervisors.

The refresher course gives delegates an understanding of their responsibilities and accountability in relation to health and safety.

It includes an overview of current legislation and any recent changes, conducting risk assessments and method statements, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and Site Waste Management Plans.

The National Construction College offers the SMSTS Refresher course at a variety of locations across the country regularly throughout the year, making it easy for everyone to access.

As the direct training division of ConstructionSkills the College offers outstanding training to both young apprentices and adult students for a wide range of specialist courses, which are delivered by experienced instructors at first class training facilities.

The College's seven campuses across the country provide training for more than 30,000 people per year.
