Timber Trade Association huge growth via web

NetConstruct helps UK Timber Frame Association grow market share.

Yorkshire-based web developer, NetConstruct, is working with the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) to produce a new marketing and ecommerce website for the trade body.

With demand for timber frame housing growing by more than 15% over the past 12 months, the UK Timber Frame Association has invested in a new website which is already paying significant dividends for the UKTFA and its members with orders worth GBP50 million being generated through the site each month.

Timber frame housing now has a 20% market share in the UK and, with an increase of 2.4% on the year this represents the single biggest rise in market share since modern records have been kept.

The UKTFA's use of the internet to increase awareness and sales for timber frame products marks a turning point for the UK building materials manufacturers as last year industry's Barbour Report warned that the construction industry was suffering through its failure to use the web to its best effect.

The building sector information specialist warned that more than 40% of building material specifiers were unable to name a well presented and managed manufacturer's website.

Bryan Woodley, Chief Executive of the UKTFA, said: "Our new website is a great marketing tool for promoting the interests of our members and timber frame building which is now firmly established as a mainstream method of construction in the UK house building industry".

"With the majority of people now using the internet to research, source and buy products having a strong web-presence was vital to the association and our members".
