NHBC solution to mixed-use development
Mixed-use developments are increasingly becoming centrepieces of the UK's inner cities.
Improving standards of health and safety
A major drive to improve standards of health and safety in the Scottish house building industry has been launched.
Mark previously assisted the senior management team in developing a number of projects including Claims Online - a new facility on the NHBC website, enabling homeowners to register claims over the internet.
Part L of the Building Regulations will involve pressure testing on a representative sample of new homes.
Mark is looking at how NHBC could provide a service to address this need, much in the way it provides pre-completion acoustic testing under Part E.
Mark is also working on the development of NHBC's acoustics services, which he is currently recruiting for, and will work with the NHBC General Manager, Mark Jones, on business improvement initiatives.
Mark's passion for housing continues in private with a keen interest in renovation, he says: "I helped build two houses some years ago and have also renovated a few old places myself, the last one was a derelict pub in Cardiff".
Before NHBC, Mark has had 15 years in the general insurance industry, in jobs including working as a centre manager for Norwich Union and as finance manager for CGUI.
Mark has two boys, four and seven, and is currently looking for a new renovation project.
