Improving standards of health and safety
A major drive to improve standards of health and safety in the Scottish house building industry has been launched.
It will also enable them to become members of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card at an appropriate level.
The programme consists of a number of units in specific organisational and technical areas, combined with mentoring support.
At level 3, six units are required; four are mandatory and the remaining two can be selected from five options.
Rob Lockey, NHBC's Training Services Manager said: "We are especially pleased to be able to add this NVQ programme to our portfolio as it will fit naturally with the existing programme we offer at Level 4".
"We now have the ability to develop site inspectors though a structured and integrated series of units, from junior to more experienced level of competence".
