Launch of the Zero Carbon Hub
NHBC has welcomed the launch today of the 'Zero Carbon Hub' - the new public and private partnership, which has been charged with making zero carbon homes a reality from 2016.
The Telehandler NVQ will highlight the risks of using such equipment and how to avoid them.
Some time ago the housebuilding industry agreed it would have a fully carded workforce by January 2008 and a competent workforce by 2010.
The NHBC NVQ has been developed specifically to help telehandler operators meet their part of this commitment.
Many telehandler operators will currently hold a Red "Trained Operator" CPCS Card.
The Red Card, which cannot be renewed, lasts for 3 years during which time the operator must successfully complete an NVQ programme in order to get a Blue 'Competent Operators' Card (valid for 5 years).
The NVQ scheme offered by the NHBC is aimed at helping operators achieve this goal.
Simon Mantle, NHBC's Health and Safety Services Manager, says: "Telehandler operations are significant areas of risk on building sites and this new NVQ programme is an important way in which we can help reduce their exposure to accidents and possible enforcement action being taken".
"The programme fits naturally with our other health and safety services, as well as our existing portfolio of NVQ programmes".
NHBC is a leading provider of construction industry NVQ programmes that deliver consistently high success rates and quality standards.
