Nightingale wins Glasgow hospital contract

A Nightingale Associates product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 10, 2009

Nightingale Associates has secured the contract for the redevelopment of Glasgow's Southern General hospital.

Nightingale Associates, part of the Brookfield Constructions UK consortium, has won its largest contract to date with The New South Glasgow Hospital Campus project.

It will also be one of the largest hospitals commissioned to be built in the UK.

Nightingale Associates beat two other shortlisted teams to win the contract; Laing O'Rourke with Keppie Architects and Balfour Beatty with BDP Architects.

The new complex will centralise services currently provided by three different hospitals.

The new buildings need to be sympathetic to the local environment and are designed to achieve a Very Good BREEAM rating.

The project will be regarded as a catalyst for further economic and social regeneration in the local area.

The project is due for completion in 2015.
