The National Home Improvement Council has launched its prestigious 2005 Annual Awards brochure covering 12 popular categories.

The National Home Improvement Council has launched its prestigious 2005 Annual Awards brochure covering 12 popular categories This is the UK's major housing awards scheme for all public and private sector organisations involved with home refurbishment, environmental renovation, skills training, special needs, safety and energy saving

Over 6000 copies of the brochure will be mailed to relevant UK organisations.

The closing date for entries is 26 August 2005.

The winners and runners-up in each category are announced at a special NHIC Awards Luncheon held at the Gladstone Library, One Whitehall Place, London SW1 on 24 November 2005, hosted by the NHIC's President Lord Brooke CH PC.

The guest of honour presenting the awards will be from the Palace of Westminster.

The 12 categories are: CATEGORY 1: Local authorities and registered social landlords - completed modernisations.

CATEGORY 2: Best value in window replacement.

CATEGORY 3: Housing association modernisations.

CATEGORY 4: Training achievement.

CATEGORY 6: Gas safety in the home.

CATEGORY 7:Young kitchen designer award.

CATEGORY 8: Roofing excellence.

Sponsor is the National Federation of Roofing Contractors.

CATEGORY 9: Eliminating fuel poverty.

CATEGORY 10: Special needs facilities.

CATEGORY 11: Electrical safety.

CATEGORY 12: Central heating/domestic hot water innovations.

The ultimate NHIC award is the George Plucknett Award.

This is made at the discretion of the Judges if they consider there is one submission which stands out beyond all others.
