A wide range of organisations including insulation companies, local authorities, energy suppliers, scheme managers, charities and community groups are helping to ensure that the message does get through and that action is taken.
To recognise these efforts, the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) is searching for the most innovative project that has demonstrated a novel approach in successfully encouraging the take up of insulation measures.
The search is part of the annual National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) Awards: As sponsors of the Innovative Insulation Award, CIGA will be looking for a scheme or project which has not only found a unique way of communicating and explaining the benefits of insulation, but has achieved the successful uptake of insulations measures too.
Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the National Insulation Association (NIA) which is administering the award on behalf of CIGA said; "There are many people working all around the country to explain the benefits to householders and in so doing have increased the demand for effective home insulation".
"Through this award we hope to recognise the most innovative of these schemes as a message of encouragement to all involved".
The 'Innovative Insulation' category received the highest number of entries in last year's Awards with The Energy Agency from Ayr securing first place with their Private Rental Property Scheme.
This enabled 300 properties to be improved and removed around 50 tenants from severe fuel poverty.
The runners up were: Mould Growth Consultants ., chosen for their unique approach and techniques used in the insulation of houses without cavities and Conwy Borough Council for their excellent energy efficiency scheme implemented on six bungalows using the most up-to-date practices possible.
If you have a success story to tell or have successfully encouraged the take up of insulation measures don't keep it to yourself, enter these prestigious awards - you could be this year's winner.
Full details are available from, the NHIC's website.
All entries are required by Friday 22nd of August 2008 although early submission is advised.
