Home improvement is highlighted at NHIC Awards
Energy efficiency, cost savings, safety, training and skills, are among the key issues highlighted by the National Home Improvement Council's 2010 Annual Awards scheme.
One of the most respected housing awards of its type in the UK, it is now in its 35th year and going from strength to strength.
Submissions are now being invited from everyone involved in the public and private housing sectors and from private landlords.
Also, submissions can be made online on or before the final closing date of Friday 10 September 2010.
Andrew Leech, the NHIC's executive director, said: "Our Awards Scheme really is a great opportunity for organisations and individuals to receive the recognition their initiatives deserve".
"This year's Award Categories have been carefully devised so that there is an opportunity for everyone involved in the home improvement arena to take part and gather some well-deserved kudos for their achievements".
This year there are 10 Award Categories covering a wide spectrum of important housing and environmental issues: Housing association modernisations, the best brownfield or recycled building project, innovative approaches to insulation, fuel safety initiatives, excellence in roofing and glass and glazing projects, water conservation through modern bathroom design, and raising standards of training and skills to meet the exacting requirements of maintenance and improvement.
Categories are carefully selected and updated each year to reflect the current priorities and pressures influencing all housing providers, including private landlords, especially the latest requirements for energy efficiency to help households reduce carbon footprints and assist vulnerable households to eliminate fuel poverty.
In addition, the NHIC may also present the coveted George Plucknett Award if, in the Judges' opinion, there is any one submission that stands out from the others.
The sponsors of the NHIC 2010 Annual Awards are the Bathroom Manufacturer's Association, British Gas, Certass, Electrical Contractor's Association in conjunction with the National Housing Association, Federation of Master Builders, Ideal Standard, Gas Safety Trust, National Home Improvement Show, National Federation of Roofing Contractors, TrustMark in conjunction with the NHIC Educational Trust and Warm Front.
The winners and runners-up in each Category will be announced at an NHIC Awards Luncheon to held in the Gladstone Library, One Whitehall Place, London SW1 on Thursday 4 November 2010, hosted by the NHIC's President The Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP.
A special guest of honour, usually a Cabinet Minister, presents the Awards.
