Vista, the UK's premier brand of CCTV equipment, announce the launch of the Vista SmartPIR colour camera which mimics a Passive Infra-Red Alarm Sensor for covert surveillance requirements.

Vista, the UK's premier brand of CCTV equipment, announced today the launch of the Vista SmartPIR colour camera The Vista SmartPIR camera mimics a Passive Infra-Red Alarm Sensor offering a number of options to suit the majority of covert surveillance requirements

It does this by combining a 1/4" CCD 480 TVL colour covert camera, with a passive infra red sensor and user-defined motion detection capabilities.

The unit can be powered either by 12V DC regulated PSU or by a 12V DC battery pack (not supplied), making it suitable for both permanent, temporary, or emergency CCTV solutions.

The Vista SmartPIR has evolved from the standard PIR Covert camera by enabling the user to record alarmed images that are saved in JPEG format onto an internal, removable, 32Mb or 64Mb flash memory card.

As a direct result, this camera can function as a stand-alone CCTV system - recording images that can later be played back on a standard CCTV monitor or a conventional PC using a smart card reader.

Such a facility means the installer's customer does not necessarily need to invest in a complete CCTV system.

Additionally, the Vista SmartPIR camera offers both a built-in PIR sensor and motion detector which can operate on an AND/OR basis.

This means that you can use either the PIR 'OR' the motion detection to trigger a recording.

But if you are concerned about getting false alarms then you can use the PIR 'AND' motion detection together, so that they both have to be activated before the alarm is triggered.

Features of SmartPIR include: * Easy to use operation via IR remote control handset * A timer to schedule recording * Activation delay to allow user to leave the premises before recording begins * Motion detection facility to focus recording on specific area, such as a door * Choose whether to over record existing captured images or not * Capture pre-alarm as well as alarm and post alarm images * Panic button on handset to capture snapshot images * No cabling except mains power (where used) * Light indicator to show unit is alarmed * Variable recording rate with capacity to capture 9 minutes at 1pps Ideal application environments include: * Discreet surveillance scenarios * Office environments * Banks and building societies * Bars, pubs and clubs * Security offices * Stock rooms * Domestic Mark Pritchard, Divisional Director of Vista, says: "Vista SmartPIR is ideal for a wide range of temporary or permanent surveillance environments where a level of discretion is required or advantageous such as instances where illegal activity is suspected.

The memory card and power options make the unit extremely suitable for situations where shot term use is needed as little installation is required, there is minimum disruption to the physical environment, and, the overall cost of the unit is considerably lower than a traditional CCTV installation."
