Natural Building Technologies, which specialises in ecologically sound building materials, is introducing a load-bearing, interlocking block system that is, simple, fast and economical.

It is ideal for both external and internal solid walls and offers a high thermal performance, robust construction and is ecologically sound Called 'Ziegel', the blocks have a fired clay honeycomb design which ensure a complete capillary break between the outside and inside faces, while still maintaining an entirely breathable structure They combine high thermal performance with robustness speed of build and good environmental performance

The blocks are very cost effective, easier to lay than bricks or blocks and are cheaper than traditional construction methods, whilst giving many added benefits but with fewer risks and complications.

They have a proven track record of many years on the Continent.

The 'Plan Ziegel system' uses a thin bed joint system of interlocking blocks (with no mortar at all needed in the perps).

The blocks are fired and then planed to a tolerance of less than 1 mm and a wide variety of corners, special purpose blocks, lintels blocks for internal pipework, partitions and even flooring and roofing shapes are available.

The standard block with a render on the outside and plaster on the inside has a K value of 0.11 allowing it to meet building regulation standards part L for walls (a U Value of 0.35).

Higher performance blocks and systems are also available.

The blocks provide a modern breathing wall design and are part of NBT systems when used in conjunction with NBT plasters and renders in proven combinations.
