Load-bearing blocks for quick, low-cost internal or external walls. The blocks provide a modern breathing wall design and can be used as part of an ecologically sound NBT system.

Natural Building Technologies, which specialises in ecologically sound building materials, has introduced an extended range of load-bearing 'Ziegel', interlocking blocks that are easy, fast and economical to lay They are ideal for both external and internal solid walls and provide excellent thermal performance

They are robust and ecologically sound.

The introduction of new thermal regulations has made this solid wall method of construction highly relevant to the current UK building industry.

In the past, solid wall construction was often (wrongly) associated with old damp buildings and it was largely abandoned.

However, solid wall construction has now been developed to a considerably higher standard -giving robustness, high thermal quality, simplicity of build and long-term performance.

The Ziegal blocks have a fired clay honeycomb design which ensure a complete capillary break between outside and inside, while still maintaining an entirely breathable structure.

They are extremely cost effective, easily competing with standard comparable construction methods, yet give many added benefits with fewer risks of interstitial micro-climates and other complications.

The NBT Ziegel system comes with a wide variety of corners, lintels, blocks for internal pipework, internal partition blocks and even flooring and roofing systems.

Special mortars are provided, as are mortar laying machines.

The blocks are fixed with a thin bed joint system of interlocking blocks (with no mortar at all needed in the perps).

The basic block has a K value of 0.11- which means that a single 300 mm block wide will meet building regulation standards part L for walls (a U Value of 0.35).

Higher performance blocks and systems are also available.

The blocks provide a modern breathing wall design and can be used as part of an ecologically sound NBT system when used in conjunction with natural plasters and renders.
