Natural Building Technologies, leaders in ecologically sound building systems, has introduced a new system for renovating old roofs so that they comply with (or exceed) current building regulations The system, named RR1 is easy to install and gives an impressive thermal insulation value (U value) or 0.28 w/M2k, as well as improving performance and providing against over-heating in summer and over-cooling in winter

RR1 is a vapour permeable construction and has no need for additional membranes so reducing the risk of interstitial condensation or rot.

This 'breathing building' method also improves the control of internal air quality.

The system has a simple and robust construction with few skilled operations required during installation.

Materials are non-toxic, non-irritant and easy to handle for installers and RR1 has low embodied energy, low CO2 emissions in manufacture and waste can be composted.

The boards are made from reprocessed wood off-cuts with no glue or wood preservatives making them ecologically sound, environmentally sustainable and low in embodied energy.

Additionally, their 'breathing' qualities can help regulate a building's interior environment making it healthier for the people inside especially those with asthma or allergy problems.

The board's ability to help eliminate condensation (and the spores that thrive in dank conditions) also means they improve the health of the building's structure and fabric.
