New Life For Old Walls

A Natural Building Technologies product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 8, 2004

Natural Building Technologies (NBT) launches revolutionary slim-line wall renovation system with no interstitial cavity.

Natural Building Technologies (NBT) is launching a slim-line renovation system for external walls, it has a U-value between 0.33 W/m2K and 0.51 W/m2K, is ecologically sound, easy to build and easily surpasses the building regulations.

But the new system is revolutionary it needs no cavity, creates no interstitial micro-climates (with their associated problems), needs no dry-lining, no vapour-barrier, and offers a slimmer construction than conventional techniques.

Much of the construction process can even rely on relatively un-skilled labour.

In the new system NBT's Difutherm natural woodfibre boards are bonded directly to the brickwork.

The internal surface is simply plastered.

The system is robust and simple, it takes little space from the building, yet provides exceptional thermal and sound insulation and other properties.

The system comes complete with structural, thermal and acoustic calculations, detailed architectural drawings and specifications together with comprehensive variation details.

It also includes site conditions and speed of build.

Added to this, the new wall has very low embodied energy, is non-toxic, non-irritant, zero emission and is approved to the Building Regulations, Din 43022, BR da3 and endorsed by Birmingham City Council Planning and Building Control.

The system is based on proven building products and techniques.

It is robust, easy to construct and available today.

It gives real and measurable cost benefits and its performance helps to enhance the health of people, buildings and the natural environment.
