Ibstock Brick improve Health and Safety with two Nu-Star super pushers in Sussex.

Ibstock Brick (the UK's leading manufacturer of high quality clay facing bricks and paving) have recently taken delivery of two Nu-Star Super Pushers at their site in West Hoathly, Sussex.

The Super Pushers are used to push up to 24 drier cars at once in the Drying Tunnels where the bricks are slowly dried before going into the kiln.

A full line of kiln cars weighs approximately 38 tonnes.

Previously an old petrol powered Gravely tractor unit was used to do the hourly tunnel push but, due to the age of this machine, spares were becoming increasingly difficult to source and a battery powered solution was preferred in order to prevent any health and safety issues related to exhaust gases.

David Roe, Ibstock's Mobile Plant Supervisor commented, "We searched for a long time for a replacement for the old Gravely tractors and tried a number of alternatives".

"Following trials we decided to take delivery of two Nu-Star Super Pushers and to date they have given excellent service and cope with the arduous conditions very well." The Super Pusher is part of the Nu-Star range of battery powered electric tug units which can be likened to a general purpose tractor unit for pushing/pulling and steering a wide range of rolling loads in many industrial applications.

Nu-Star offer a consultancy service, coupled with a bespoke design and manufacturing service, to deliver the most cost effective solution.

All solutions are available to purchase or contract hire direct.
