Chiltern Dynamics is staging 'Air Tightness Testing Explained' courses outlining the impact of changes to the requirements for air tightness testing of buildings in Approved Document L.

The changes which come into effect in October this year, affect all new dwellings and buildings other than dwellings, as well as extensions to non-dwellings.

They will have an impact on the size of projects requiring testing, the number of units to be tested and the performance levels required.

The new half-day course is based around an actual air test, enabling delegates to feel for air leakage points.

In addition, a series of presentations will explain: The revised Approved Document L requirements for air tightness testing; Implications of the changes; The impact of air permeability on overall building energy performance; The testing procedure and process; The key aspects of creating and maintaining the air barrier; Typical air paths, based on site experience.

The course takes place at the company's High Wycombe headquarters on 2 and 29 November 2010 and 1 and 30 March 2011.

The cost is GBP130 + VAT for TRADA members and GBP155 + VAT for non-members.
