Specialist floor covering wins LPCB approval

Ockwells launch of FloorShield FR, the flame retardent version of their successful FloorShield range.

Ockwells, the specialist building materials distributor has announced the long awaited launch of FloorShield FR, the flame retardent version of their successful FloorShield range.

Intended as a temporary floor and surface protection material FloorShield FR has been awarded the coveted LPCB certification making it the only truly breathable material of this type in the price range, to meet the stringent tests of the Loss Prevention Certification Board.

The material will be marked with the accreditation reference LPS 1207 ref.

726a/01 ensuring that it meets all the requirements of the LPCB.

Manufactured from spun-bonded polypropylene FloorShield FR is a lightweight, water resistant yet breathable membrane making it ideal for any surface, including those that may be affected by condensation, such as wooden floors or areas including electrical equipment.

Not only is FloorShield FR the obvious choice for environments with fire risk it can also be successfully used where its tear strength and flexibility are of paramount importance.

Intended initially as a floor covering FloorShield FR will also be useful for covering worktops, furniture and computer equipment.

Ockwells customers were asked for their requirements before FloorShield FR was put into production and this has resulted in a material that should find favour with the residential building companies for use in flats and houses, plus commercial construction companies, refurbishment trades and the facilities management sector.

Ockwells have spent considerable time and investment ensuring that the product meets the requirements of the market as well as the LPCB and insurers.

The result is viewed as a big step forward in flame retardant surface protection.
