Half year results keep Omega on track

An Omega Red Group product story

Omega Red Group, the UK market leader in Electrical Earthing and Lightning Protection, has declared a record half-year turnover.

Omega Red Group, the UK market leader in Electrical Earthing and Lightning Protection, has declared a record half-year turnover of GBP5.1m to the end of September.

Contracts like those with Network Rail to upgrade the West Coast Mainline and at Heathrow Terminal 5, Europe's largest construction project, have made a significant contribution and with an order book of GBP8.1m the company expects to beat its previous record busting full year turnover of GBP9.7m achieved at the end of March 2006.

"It's not just the high profile contracts that have driven this performance, it's also the thousands of smaller contracts that make up our business," said Managing Director, Mike Henshaw.

"We've made a significant investment over the past few years in people and skills, the latest IT systems, and equipment and buildings and the business is now fully owner-managed so we've an added incentive to see it succeed".

During 2005 the five original shareholders, plus two others who joined shortly after the company was formed in 1988, completed the buyout of the 34.7% of shares in the company held by global private equity firm, 3i, for undisclosed seven-figure sum.

Since the company was set up growth has been both organic and through acquisition - Omega acquired its largest competitor, Furse Specialist Contracting, in 1995 and A.W Elliott in 2004.

The company is three times the size of its nearest rival and employs more than 220 people at its Nottingham head office in Bulwell and at its branches in Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol and London.
